The globe is a  non-member den item that was sold during early 2011, which wasn't during the beta times, but it is still considered a beta item. It is now pretty rare. This item is available in The Forgotten Desert, as most of the betas are. The globe isn't a highly coveted item, but it's still a nice item to own.

What it's worth: I'd say it's worth a different non-member den beta, like a Rocking Horse, Candy Basket, Orange Gecko, etc.
